About Us

We are two long standing members of the Steamboat Association of Great Britain (SBA) with a common interest in the mono-tube steam generator. This type of boiler is light in weight, very safe and probably inexpensive to build. Those characteristics make the technology ideal for hobby steam boaters. However, the SBA has few launches with mono-tube steam generators in its ranks. We hope that this site will help to change that.

This site will, over time. build up a resource of material that anybody interested in the topic may find useful. However, users should remember that information provided here comes with no warranties and anybody thinking of using such ideas must make their own assessment of whether the proposal is safe in the context they wish to use it and meets the local regulations for pressure vessels. The key advice we would offer is to take your proposal to your local boiler inspector and get his/her advice.
